Bristol F2B Fighter
I do not pretend that I am an expert builder, in the fact I am the exact opposite. So if anyone spots any dreadful errors in the way the build has happened let me know and I will point them out in these pages.
I decided I wanted a longer term plane building project and plumped for the Flair Bristol F2B Fighter. My father was an observer in one during WW1 so I have a personal interest in this particular aircraft. Incidentally my Father also saw service as an observer with the Armstrong Whitworth FK8. He landed the job as observer because his eyesight was not deemed good enough to be a pilot.....
Opening the box shows lots of pieces of wood, as one might expect.

Add the 16 sheet documentation goes a long way...

So far the build has progressed as per the comprehensive instructions. The worst experience, has been the silver soldering, but that was made far easier by getting hold off the Flair's low melt silver solder. Some work will need to done to ensure that the elevator control shaft is straightened and eased so that it swivels freely, before any gluing is carried out.

And as suggested, the longerons have been soaked then pinned into position prior to any fuselage side build up.

To be continued
Don't hold your breath though! At the moment the 120 Sato engine is installed in the rebuilt wreckage of a Thunder Tiger Trainer - just to see what it would be like flying. Flew well ....
